Ook internationaal doet de vervolging van Geert Wilders stof opwaaien. Een commentaar in het Amerikaanse dagblad The Wall Street Journal komt tot de conclusie dat, door de uitspraak van het Amsterdamse hof, het debat over de Islam in dit land wordt beperkt tot wat toelaatbaar is in landen als Saudi-Arabië. De auteur betoogt dat als de vrijheid van meningsuiting iets inhoudt, het de vrijheid is om controversiële meningen te verkondigen.
